*Seminar by Hill’s Company

Mrs. Bernadette Chim from Singapore gave a 15min video presentation about the company, and then a seminar about today’s companion animal veterinary hospital in Asia. She spoke slowly so people who are not close to English could understand as well. The video showed Hill’s Company’s eager spirit of inquiry in pet food. Also, it was a marvelous chance to be able to learn about today’s vet hospital in Asia.

*Seminar by De. Tetsuo Mizuno

Dr. Mizuno is a founder of Australia-Japan Wildlife Conservation and Education Foundation(AJWCEF) and set out for “coexistence of nature and human,” and plays an active role in Australia. Unfortunately he was in Australia on the day of the event, so instead he held a seminar using Skype’s video call. Because tit the first attempt to hold a seminar using Skype, there were some troubles during the seminar, but we were able to connect with Dr. Mizuno. In this seminar, he gave a quiz about local animals, and also gave information about veterinary colleges. We were sure this seminar widened students’ choice for the future.

*Seminar by Nobuo Sasaki

Dr. Sasaki used to be a professor of University of Tokyo, and now is an administrator of Japan Bio Science laboratory Co., Ltd. He gave a seminar about veterinary students’ future path after graduated from college. We were able to learn not about the system of the training course. He sure showed a path to students who hopes to become a companion animal veterinarian.

*Seminar by Dr. Toshiro Iwasaki

Dr. Iwasaki is a professor of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. He is also a chairman of The Japan Society of Veterinary Dermatology and Asian College of Veterinary Dermatology. He gave a seminar about veterinary medicine system in Asia. For example, he taught us that 70% of Japan’s veterinary hospitals are one-man practice system, and that we must adjust Asia’s specialized medicine system. Also, he spoke to us that it is important for the world to know about it; not only to create the system.

*Discussion

We had a discussion between Dr. Sasaki and Dr. Iwasaki and the students. They answered carefully to each of the participant’s questions.

*Dr. Sasaki and Dr. Iwasaki also joined us in the tea party. Participants who couldn’t ask questions during the discussion time were able to discuss with the two, and also we saw many students who were discussing with the Doctors about their future. Doctors gave careful advices at this time as well, and we were sure every participants had a chance to talk with the Doctors. Doctors told us in the end that they enjoyed the chance to talk with young veterinary students.

*Lastly, we would like to thank to the Hill’s Company and to the presenters: Mrs. Bernadette Chim; Dr. Tetsuo Mizuno; Dr. Nobuo Sasaki; Dr. Toshiro Iwasaki. Thank you so much for this wonderful day. Although this event was full of first attempts, and found many regrets, we think this day was a great experience that could lead to much better activities in the future. Again, thank you so much for everyone who was involved in this World & I.
